Last week was my third week at my school internship, and I have been enjoying the flexibility you have with outfits in this setting! Last fall, one of my placements was in an outpatient medical facility, and I had to wear black pants and a black shirt every day. Since I had to get up at 5:45 a.m. to get there on time, I did kind of appreciate that I didn’t have to think that early in the morning. But I really missed putting together outfits and didn’t have enough weekend days to wear all my favorites!
I thought it would be fun to put together a little compilation of what I actually wore during one week since I love reading other people’s posts like this. Sometimes I can get in a rut of wearing the same few combinations, so this inspired me to switch it up and try some new outfits as well! By shopping my own closet and reusing older pieces in a new way, it can make them feel new and exciting, and make me not want to go out and buy more!
– MONDAY –
Monday I went for a layered look because I had been cold most days at my internship, and I kept it up throughout most of the week! A jean jacket is such a staple for laying in all seasons, and as you’ll see I wear it multiple times a week usually.
Sweater: thrifted (see thrift haul where I got it here!)
Jacket: I’ve owned since high school, so your guess is as good as mine 😉
Black jeans: TJ Maxx
Black boots: MaddenGirl
Scarf: Target (also from high school… see old post here for proof haha)
Belt: Amazon
– TUESDAY –
This top and sweater are both pieces I have had for at least 3-4 years, and I find myself not reaching for them quite as much as I used to. Recently I have been trying to wear pieces that I am unsure of, and if I don’t like them then I will donate them. I think these both past the test… for now.
Top: thrifted (see thrift haul where I got it here!)
Cardigan: thrifted (if you want to see how cringe my outfits were in 2014… click here at your own risk to see how I styled it)
Pants: TJ Maxx
Boots: MaddenGirl
– WEDNESDAY –
Again, all about the cozy layered looks these days when it is well below freezing outside! I love this jacket but sometimes hesitate to wear it as I feel like I only have 2-3 ways to wear it. But pairing a scarf with it changed it up and made me love it again!
Jacket: Forever 21
Pants: TJ Maxx
Sweater: Forever 21
Scarf: Charlotte Russe (I got this only clearance for literally $2 and it was one of my best purchases because of how soft it is!)
Boots: MaddenGirl
– THURSDAY –
Thursday I wanted an outfit to wear wear with my pearl headband, and I feel like it is enough of a statement that I tend to avoid wearing patterns when I wear it. I honestly don’t think to wear dresses that much in the winter since you have to pair them with leggings and even then it can still be cold, so I always forget about this sweater dress!
Dress: Zaful (c/o) (see how else I have styled this here!)
Jean jacket: ???
Leggings: Old Navy
Boots: MaddenGirl (if it isn’t clear by now, these are my go-to winter shoes because they look professional but also have really thick soles and good grips for the snow lol)
Headband: Amazon
– FRIDAY –
On Fridays I can wear jeans, so you bet I’ll be taking advantage of that most weeks. I love the lace up detailing on the side of this sweater and think it looks super cute with jeans!
Sweater: thrifted (for $3 from Plato’s Closet a few years back… originally from Madewell!)
Jeans: TJ Maxx (old)
Booties: TJ Maxx (old)
And that concludes my outfits for this week at my internship! I can’t wait until the weather warms up a bit so I can break out some of my cute spring and summer tops and not wear sweaters every day… but until then you can find me bundled up 😉
