This week I am excited to share my interview with Chloe and Kim. I love following along on their blog because they have fun posts and I love that they are a mother daughter team!
1. Where did you come up with the name PopCosmo?
PopCosmo originally started as a city and pop culture guide for
teens; so Pop for pop culture and Cosmo for city. It has clearly
evolved since we name it and we can’t wait to see how it’ll evolve even
more as the time goes by!
2. How many hours each week do you spend on your blog?
This is so hard!
We don’t really have a schedule or anything we just do everything when
we want to or when we feel inspired. Lately we haven’t been able to
spend as much time on it as we would like but I’d say at least 40 hours a week goes into it.
3. What is your favorite thing about being a mother-daughter duo?
For me (Chloe) I love the ability to be as open and honest as I want. I
can tell my mom if I’m not feeling an idea without having to worry
about hurting her feelings. We also know each other super well
(obviously) so we can help motivate, inspire, and push each other to do
bigger and better things.
4. What is your favorite type of post to write?
Lately, I (Chloe)
really love doing recipe posts. It’s so fun styling and shooting food
and I feel like people can create the exact same thing. I don’t know
what it is but I really love it.
I (Kim) love writing trend spotting posts!
5. What three words best describe your style?
Chloe: casual, minimal, girly.
Kim: jeans, jeans, and jeans
6. I saw that Chloe got an internship at Dormify this summer… do you
have any tips for other girls who are looking for an internship?
Last summer I did Design Love Fest’s BlogShop workshop here in New York
and I fell head over heels in love with the city. I then made it my
duty to come back to the city the next summer for an internship. I would
recommend starting to look as early as possible for internships. Just
keep your eyes peeled and do a lot of research! You could even reach out
to companies and ask if they are looking for interns or when they start
hiring interns. That will help you get your name out there and they
will know that you’re really motivated. I found my internship through
7. If you could travel to one place right now, where would you go?
Chloe: Greece. Or maybe Australia. Or Spain. Ugh now I have wanderlust.
Kim: Most definitely Paris.
8. Do you have any advice for people who are considering starting a blog?
We both say to be yourself and be consistent. It’s so important to have
your own original voice and not write just like how everyone is
writing. People will want to read your blog for you and you only! Being
consistent is also important because if you’re all over the place and
post irregularly people will simply get annoyed and give up!
Don’t forget to checkout PopCosmo and read through some of their awesome posts!
