Back in April, we went to Charlotte to see Johnnyswim in concert since they are one of my favorite groups. I had never been to Charlotte before, so we made a whole day out of it to explore some of the cool places Charlotte has to offer! Today I wanted to share where we went and if I would recommend it or not.
Optimist Hall
We went to Optimist Hall to kill some time in the afternoon and ended up getting an acai bowl there and walking around through some of the different shops. I think food halls are always fun to visit, and this is one I would love to come back to if I am back in Charlotte. I wouldn’t recommend the acai bowl since I have had better bowls at other places, but some of the other food places looked really good!
This plant shop in Optimist Hall was so fun to browse!
Charlotte Beer Garden
We went to Charlotte Beer Garden for lunch because it looked like it had a cool outdoor space and some great drinks on tap. They have hundreds of beers on tap and over a dozen ciders as well! I am not a beer person but have gotten more into ciders recently, so this was a fun place to find since places rarely have more than one or two ciders on tap! The burger and fries and pretzel were all delicious as well, which was an added bonus.
Amelie’s French Bakery & Cafe
We went here to grab a few things for dessert, and sadly we were both underwhelmed by what we got. I had seen people post about this on social media before or in Charlotte blog posts, but it did not live up to the hype for us. The macarons were lackluster and overall I would not recommend.
Freedom Park
It was the perfect weather when we were in Charlotte, so we decided to go to Freedom Park to walk around a bit. I would recommend if you are looking for a short outdoor walk with some pretty scenery.
Then we ended the night at at the Fillmore to see Johnnyswim! This was my second time seeing them and they always put on such a great show.
Stay tuned for more travel posts coming soon since I am going on a fun trip at the end of June! Checkout my last travel post about Charleston here.
