Sit Down With Scarlett: May 2021 Life Update

I haven’t done a life update since December, so I think it is time to share some of the fun things I have been up to in 2021!

Spring in Greenville has been so pretty with all the trees flowering! I will say the pollen in South Carolina is so much worse than in the Midwest, so it has not been a fun time for allergies though!

Over spring break, I went to Charleston on a day trip with my boyfriend since I hadn’t been there before! It was fun to explore and it definitely feels different there than in the upstate. I want to go back to the beach there sometime in the summertime to actually see how the beaches in South Carolina are.  Also, this BBQ place had the best mac n cheese!

Sullivan’s Island

After loving Jeni’s Ice Cream in Nashville a few years ago, I was excited to visit another Jeni’s! I got a scoop of caramel and a scoop of chocolate and both were really good. And of course I loved all the colorful buildings in Charleston!

Then my parents came down for the second part of my spring break where we did a few day trips around the upstate. I was able to cross two more waterfalls off my list- Beech Bottom Falls is the one pictured above! My goal on my current 101 in 1001 list is to make it to 10 waterfalls, and I am almost there!

Twin Falls

On top of Sassafras Mountain you can stand in North Carolina and South Carolina at the same time!

The view from the top was also really pretty. It is still so new to me to live in a place that isn’t completely flat!

It was a bit colder once you got up into the higher altitudes… spotted these icicles on one hike to a waterfall!

And of course I can’t have a life update post without including Chester in it somewhere! Kiki is actually also in this picture but just buried under the blanket 🙂

And of course I have been keeping up with thrifting over the last few months as well. I haven’t been going as much since I have my apartment pretty much all decorated and such, but I still find the occasional fun piece when I do go. This alligator bag is one of my recent finds that I have been loving! I am a sucker for quirky animal pieces that aren’t tacky, and this goes well with so many different outfits!

Overall, I have really enjoyed living near Greenville and am hoping to do some Greenville related posts over the next year or two as I get to know places there even better! This rooftop bar has been one of the cooler places that I have found because of the good views from every side!

That is it for my May 2021 life update! I am excited that I just have a month left of school until I get a few months off for summer! There are so many places around South Carolina that I still want to see, and I am hoping to cross some more off during my break from school! But until then you can catch me writing lots of IEPs and giving allll the cues for placement of articulators for speech sounds…

xo, Scarlett
