About 2 years ago, a friend and I decided to pick up some watercolor paints from Hobby Lobby and try to watercolor. The first few attempts were pretty rough, but over time my finished paintings have improved. I don’t do it that often, and I definitely still have a lot to learn about watercoloring. But if you are curious about watercoloring, or want some new ideas to practice, I wanted to share some of my favorite resources I have found that are free and easy!
Youtube
Youtube is my favorite place to find new tutorials because there are many many videos that go step-by-step. There are so many different options too, so looking up things like “easy watercolor bird” or “watercolor flowers for beginners” can help you find tutorials that are easy to follow.
Pinterst
Recently I also discovered that Pinterest has some step by step picture tutorials as well. I love that some specify details such as what should be painted on wet and what should be painted on dry. Here are some of my favorites that I have found recently and want to try soon:
If you search hashtags such as #watercolor, #easywatercolor, or #watercolortutorial, there are so many different posts on Instagram that you can use to inspire your ideas. Some of them are videos that you can follow, while others are just a picture of someone’s finished design that you can use as a guideline to create your own.
Overall, those are the top 3 ways I find new ideas for watercoloring. I love that all of these options are free and I can find pretty much anything I want to on there!
Tell me in the comments if you ever watercolor or if you have any other places to find free and easy tutorials!
