{Trendy Talks} Michaela from The Monogrammed Midwesterner

Today’s interview is with Michaela from The Monogrammed Midwesterner. Her blog is so cute and I love her style, so I was very excited to interview her. Plus, she is a fellow Midwesterner, so what’s not to love?!

1. Why did you begin a blog?My best
friend Savannah used to blog and she convinced me to start one while
she restarted hers. This past summer, I was studying for my MCAT (the
standardized test for admission to medical school) and I was feeling
very overwhelmed and uninspired. I wanted to be able to share what I
loved while I was doing something that wasn’t so fun.2. How do you balance blogging with everything else in your life?I
treat blogging as my study breaks. When I’ve spent a few hours
studying, I’ll usually spend about a half hour blogging as a study
break. When things get busy with school and my volunteer work, blogging
definitely takes a back burner, but while studying is important,
personal time is just as important, and that’s what my blog gives me.3. Where do you get blogging inspiration?Everywhere!
I’m a Pinterest addict – seriously, I have over 100 boards. I spend
lots of time reading other blogs and getting inspiration for outfits and
posts. I also love Instagram and follow tons of bloggers. Their
beautiful pictures just make me feel inspired!4. What is your favorite store to shop at?J. Crew. I could happily live and die there.5. What bloggers inspire you the most?Carly of The College Prepster is my ultimate blogger inspiration. She is always incredibly poised and classy, and has such a distinctive voice about her blog.6. What is your favorite quote?

“Be
kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle.” I think it’s
important to treat everyone with kindness – you never know what they’re
going through. Imagine how you would feel if someone was rude to you
when you were having a hard day.

7. What is your major?

I’m a biology major. Specifically, molecular and cellular biology.

8. How did you know your college was right for you?To
be honest, I really didn’t. I went to a small private high school
(graduating class 32 people!) and I wanted to go somewhere big, but
close to home. My best friend from high school and I based our decision
to go here off really nothing besides the fact that it’s a good school,
but I couldn’t be happier with my decision. I’ve gotten wonderful
opportunities, made great friends, and met my boyfriend here!
9. If you have free time, where is your favorite place to go to hangout?

My bed! No, I’m kidding. I love to go hang out at Starbucks or in any public place really – I love to people watch!

10. Is there anything you want to accomplish before 2015?

Personally,
I am planning to sign up for the GRE, so that’s something I need to
work up the nerve to officially sign up for. For the blog, I would love
to do at least one giveaway and/or sponsored post before the end of the
year!
