Hey guys! Today I am interviewing Sydney from A Thousand Tomorrows, and I can’t wait for you guys to get to know her more! We recently connected and it has been so fun learning more about her since she is also a teen blogger and she has an exciting life that is very different from mine! I stole a few pictures from her blog so you can see what she wears and see what she looks like! 🙂
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog! I’m
a high school freshman at an amazing school in Charleston, SC. I go to a
school where I have an art major that I auditioned for in 6th grade
(there are 8 to choose from: Visual Arts, Strings, Piano, Vocal, Band,
Creative Writing, Dance, and Theater) – and I’m a vocalist. This entails
90 minutes in my designated major each day, which includes rehearsals,
performances, and some great opportunities (see #8!). I’m really
passionate about my math and science credits because I want to go into
the medical field as a Registered Nurse or a Nurse Anesthetist. I love
to read and spend time with friends in my spare time! My blog started as
a preppy, southern-ish theme, but I have grown it to be more of myself
and who I am, and I love it the way it is. I love to write about
motivation, outfits + pictures, inspiration, and high school life.
2. How long have you been blogging and why did you start? I’ve been blogging since July 2013. When I saw a good friend from school started her own blog with a friend. I had been reading quite a few blogs at the time, (The College Prepster!)
and I was super inspired and was interested in creating my own “corner”
of the internet. It’s been such a great learning experience and I’ve
met some great people through social media platforms and emailing. I
love that I have my own creative outlet that reflects me!
3. How many hours a week would you say you spend on your blog? I
think that in a week’s time, I probably spend 4-5 hours total working
on my blog. I dedicate most of the time on the weekend, but throughout
the week I am constantly responding to emails, tweeting, checking stats,
and putting finishing touches on posts.
4. I see you are a very busy person! How
do you balance blogging, school, etc.? It’s all about organization and
time management. I use the single monthly calendars at the front of my
Lilly Agenda for blogging only. Each day I plan what I’m writing, which
is a great visual and really helps when planning out the week/month. I
love using the week by week portion of my agenda for writing down my
homework, tests, quizzes, projects, and weekend events. I use the
monthly calendar in front of these weeks for broad planning, countdowns
(for Italy!), and vacations. With all this being said, it is really
about time management and organization (like I said at the very
beginning). If school work is taking over and needs more dedication, I
will put the blog on the back burner for a few days, as I always put
school first. I find that balancing is also key!
5. How would you describe your personal style? I think
that my style is comfortable, classy, and casual. I don’t ever want to
be uncomfortable and not feel my best in my outfit. I would use the word
classy because I don’t usually wear what is “trending”, I feel like I
overall wear pieces that are classic and versatile. By having these
classy items, I can re-wear and mix-and-match so easily. Lastly, I use
the word casual because I think that the outfits I put together can
easily be transitioned between day and night and are always acceptable
for venues.
6. What’s your favorite place to shop? Gap.
I think that most of the outfit posts I’ve done on my blog include
some piece from Gap, if not the entire outfit. If one day they wanted to
sponsor me or asked me to do something for them, I wouldn’t hesitate to
say yes.
7. What are your favorite blogs? I started out reading The College Prepster, so she is definitely my favorite blogger. I (of course!) love Scarlett’s blog and find all of her posts to be fun and enjoyable reads that are also genuine. I love Mackenzie Horan’s blog (and her boutique!) because her posts are simple yet awesome! My friend Kira has a blog and
it is adorable and I find it very relatable since we live in the same
city, are in the same grade at the same school, and we both love to
blog! If you follow me on Bloglovin’, you can see what other blogs I love to read on a daily basis.
8. You get to travel overseas soon … can you tell us a little bit about this opportunity? I
do! I am traveling to Italy for 8 days with my Vocal Department at
school. There are about 40 people going, (students and parent chaperons)
and we are touring the country and performing 3 times. We will be
guided around the city by a tour guide on a coach bus and visit
historical landmarks. I’m super excited and cannot wait to share with
all my readers what the experience was like! Come back to my blog to
hear all about it! (Follow along on Bloglovin’ to make sure you don’t
miss anything!)
9. Where do you see yourself in 5 years? In 5 years, I’ll be 20! I hope to be attending college in the New England area, studying to be a nurse, and maybe in love!
10. Where else can you be found?
Personal Instagram / Blog Intsagram
