For the last ThursDIY in June, I made a tie dye shirt! In the end I am going to show you my favorite way to style it, because all too often tie dye shirts just get shoved into the back of your closet because you aren’t sure how to style them!
What you need:
- Tie Dye Kit- I bought mine from Micheal’s and used a 50% off coupon so it was really cheap!
- Gloves
- Trash bags
- Paper Towels
- Shirt or tanktop to dye- I bought mine from Micheal’s as well
- Spray bottle
First set out your trash bags and lay out your shirt on top. Next, carefully fill the bottles with water. Then put on gloves and shake well.
Spray shirt with water so it is wet before you begin to dye it. Then begin to twist the shirt. Here is an example:
Once you are done twisting, rubber band the shirt carefully. Then you are ready to tie dye! Just a warning from personal experience- be careful with you open the bottles to begin dying. Since you just shook the bottles up, some squirts out the top when it is first opened.
All done! Now wrap it up in a plastic bag for 6+ hours. Then rinse it out with cold water until no more dye comes out. Lastly, wash it by itself for the first wash, then you are ready to wear it!
Here is one of my favorite ways to wear tie dye during the summer!
I love to wear my tie dye with jean shorts. It is such an effortless look, but it is still cute! I would add flip flops or converse, and sunglasses too! The bandana is optional, but I think with a messy bun or even a sock bun it would look cute!
Do you ever wear tie dye? What is your favorite way to style it? Tell me in the comments!
