Sit Down With Scarlett: 12.23.17

Since it has been 2 months since I did a Sit Down With Scarlett post, I wanted to do another one to recap the second half of my semester! Grab a cup of tea or coffee and catch up with what’s new in my life!

At the beginning of November, I had the chance to observe a cochlear implant surgery, and it was really interesting since I was in Audiology this semester. I will learn even more about cochlear implants next semester, so I can’t wait to be able to apply the stuff I observed to what I am learning in class.

I also mentioned in my last sit down post that I was observing for the first time in clinic this semester. The time with our client flew by and it was such a good experience. I am so glad to be able to finally apply what I am learning in class. I also had the chance to do clinic by myself one week because of a conference, and it went really well! It is kind of weird to think that in a year I will be doing clinic by myself 3 times a week, and I will have an underclassman observing and helping me! Next semester they do not require us to observe in clinic again, but I definitely want to if it fits into my schedule!

Another exciting thing that happened is I signed a lease for a house for next year! This year I live in an apartment with 2 friends, but we wanted a little more space. So we found another friend and found a cute house for next year that isn’t too far from campus.

When I mentioned before I was in a bowling class this semester, I know a lot of people were surprised. It ended up being such a fun class, and I am glad to say my bowling did improve throughout the semester. Aka I only throw a few balls in the gutter now 😉

Other than that, the past few weeks of break have been really low key, and I am very grateful for the chance to relax after a semester that was a lot of work! I go back a week from today and start my Neuroanatomy class and have that throughout January. So if you don’t hear from me at all during the month, just know I am dying. Just kidding, but it is known to be a tough class! Definitely wish I was flying out to spend January in Jamaica again…

What’s one thing that has happened in your life in the past semester? Share in the comments below as I love hearing about your lives as well!
