After reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn last week, I knew I had to pick up her other two books and read them at some point this summer. I enjoyed reading Gone Girl and I love how at the beginning you have no idea what to think. Then you keep reading and gain more and more insight on background information and then at the end everything falls into place. I do have to admit, I was almost stopped reading it 3 times during the first quarter of the book. Like I said above, you are in the dark about a lot of things and it just wasn’t that interesting yet. But I am SO glad I stuck with it!
Anyways, I commented on Sydney’s post saying I was planning on reading the other two books by Gillian Flynn, and she came up with a great idea to do a book collab! So starting on Monday, we are going to begin reading Sharp Objects. I am really hoping that I am able to get the book from my library on my Kindle while I am on vacation so I can begin it there!
Then at the end of June, we will both do a post on our thoughts and then begin Dark Places for July!
Here is a summary of the Sharp Objects:
Fresh
from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a
troubling assignment: she must return to her tiny hometown to cover the
murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to
her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely
knows: a beautiful thirteen-year-old with an eerie grip on the town.
Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family’s Victorian mansion,
Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims—a bit too
strongly. Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological
puzzle of her own past if she wants to get the story—and survive this
homecoming.
If you would like to join us, please do! Since this is our first time doing this, I am not sure how many people will join us. Comment below if you are going to read it this month too! I would love to get in touch so we can discuss it!
